LASC Sailors, one and all
The Captain’s Mug Race is the highlight sailboat race of the year for the Lake Arthur Sailing Club and you’re all welcome to join in. The official start time for our regulars is 1300 hours, September 26th. New competitors are always welcome, but if you’re not up for the challenge come out as spectators and follow the racing fleet as a friendship sail. It really presents quite a show of keel boats sailing in unison up to the 422 bridge and back. We’ve had 11 boats compete in at least one of our races this year and we’re looking forward to a good turn out for the Captain’s Mug.
If you’re coming out as a spectator tune your VHF to channel 14 and listen in to the prerace instructions and the exciting 5 minute countdown to the start. The start line can be found by traveling from Neeley’s Point towards the boat rental concession. The first mark is basically due North of the start line. The windward mark is to the right side of the 422 bridge and then the fleet will run with the wind back to the start finish line. As a spectator, please keep well clear of the start line and give way to all racing boats. A good place to view the race would be around Watt’s Bay.
