Following dinner we will have the Fall business meeting.  The tentative agenda is:

  • Review and accept the Spring meeting minutes

  • Treasurer’s report – Scott Mullins

  • Replacement of club cabinet for next year with a bigger-better one. – Dave MacDonald

  • New race (handicap) rules proposed for next year – Dave MacDonald

  • Website update

  • Open discussion of activity ideas for next year.

  • Sailor of the year award

  • Nomination and election of officers and directors whose terms are ending.  At the Spring business meeting the club by-laws were amended to nominate and elect new officers and board members for the next year at the Fall meeting as opposed to at the Spring meeting.  The thinking was this gives the new board an earlier chance to get a jump on planning next year’s activities.  The positions becoming open are Captain and Vice-Captain as well as 2 director positions.

Following the meeting table games will be played.  If you plan to play Left-Right-Center be sure to bring your quarters.

Many clubs in recent years have struggled to remain viable as their members have found many other activities to keep their interest.  Fortunately LASC continues to be a successful social organization with a passion for sailing.  This doesn’t happen in a vacuum.  It takes ongoing support from caring members to step up when needed to make the club a continuing success.  With this in mind, if you have the ability to serve as an officer or board member for next year, let me know (particularly if you can’t make the meeting) or volunteer your name in nomination at the business meeting.
